Inside The Incredible World Of Jackie O's Relatives

I hate that tagline.  "Inside The Incredible World Of Jackie O's Relatives"  But, alas... that is marketing.  People would look at it and be like "Who are these crazy old women being played by Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange?"  Not to mention, would most likely not know it is based on a true story... Thusly, may not submit interest, unless they went into it knowing they were related to the former first lady.

Originally, Grey Gardens was a documentary released in 1975 by the Maysles brothers.  It is one of my favorite films, and something I knew was eventually going to make its way to film (though it has already been the topic of books, songs, and even a broadway musical since its creation).

It really has (almost) nothing to do with Jacqueline Onassis, but stars the late Edith Beale and daughter Edith Jr. Beale
who are aunt and first cousin to miss O.  Because of Jackie, the mother/daughter duo were allowed to stay in their neglected home, instead of being evicted, only because of O's help. Anyone hoping for Jackie to make a fashionable appearance in the documentary... will be disappointed.

Anyways, putting the film into words is hard (as is anything you love and try to give justice), because its such a experience.  I dont know if I have faith in HBO creating a just film version, but it' not me who throws the dice and will just have to be patient, wait, and see.

Until then, go see the 1975 documentary.  And then, we can all talk about what we think of the film being released on April 18th at 8pm.  Although, Drew and Jessica look amazing in the promo pics (more so the top than to the left).
