"They will take you"

"This is purely a man-on-a-mission movie, but one well-crafted and suspenseful enough that it diverts our attention away from the fact that it isn't really about anything."

"Taken" is a roller coaster. Most of it is a crazy ride, the beginning and end however, seem out of place.

When the movies starts, we get an awkward divorced couple debating about whether or not to let their daughter travel to Paris alone. Upon her arrival, she and her friend are kidnapped.

The rest of the movie is about Liam Neeson going postal in Paris trying to find her. The story is great. Much like Harrison Ford's "Frantic" (yes, once upon a time, he was in good movies), this movie is nonstop. But the ending is, awkward. In fact, I thought the final few scenes of the film were so bad, that they should have just been cut.

Not to mention a few of the subplots.... were really out of place. Neeson's daughter wants to be a singer... and somehow that is tied into the story. And as you guessed, it wasn't done very well. I usually agree with HD Digest, but their review seems a bit more harsh than usual. I think I'd say a 4/5 stars for story, personally. But you have to expect that it isnt a story that is groundbreaking, new, or complex. Its about a guy with some serious fight left in him.

Anyways, though it doesnt sound like it, I recommend seeing it. It was a great story, and Liam Neeson is (as usual) pretty awesome throughout.
